Sport Compacts and Roll Bar Design
A roll bar is a U-shaped safety bar behind the driver and passenger seats that can support the weight of your ride in the event that you roll it. Roll bars are available for cars and trucks. The roll bar usually connects to the chassis at two points on the floor and two points to the rear deck. Roll bars usually takes about 6 – 8 hours to install.
If you add a roll bar, expect to add up to 55 lbs of weight and lose the use of your back seat. Think carefully about that! Please know that style bars are different from roll bars. Style bars are nice to look at and cheaper than roll bars, but they are NOT designed to support the weight of your ride if you roll it. They may even injure you during an accident, so do yourself a favor and be aware of theĀ difference!
