Sport Compacts and Stock Seats
The advantages to stock seats (or factory seats) are that they are comfortable and easy to adjust whether your grandma or your best friend is in the seat. Some come in leather, are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, or come with built-in speakers.
They may also have side impact airbags or inertia reel seatbelts, which will automatically lock the seatbelt during an accident. Some cars have pretensioners that actually tighten the seat belt during a collision.
The disadvantages to stock or factory seats are that they can weigh as much as 180 lbs a pair. Competition harness will not work with them and their hinges may break during an accident. They often do not have side support which helps to keep you sitting upright.
