Dandruff in your Nappy Hair
Want to know if your daughter’s scalp is clean? Scratch it, then smell your nails. Is it pleasant or abhorrent?
I don’t know about you, but in the winter months my scalp is dry (especially around the edges). When I scratch it, the shoulders of my blouse look like a scene from the North Pole. Dandruff can result when a yeast-like fungus normally found on your scalp called malassezia grows too fast. Is this a case of too much of a good thing? … Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Do not keep these ‘little extras’ as pets. They are not your friends and will drive you itchy-crazy-mad!
Want a way to get rid of dandruff? Get a bottle of dandruff shampoo or do it my way, the cheap way (we are in a recession, you know). Get a bottle of white vinegar and a small spray bottle. Pour 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Gently swirl to mix. Spray this mixture directly onto your scalp. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Shampoo and condition. Rinse very well. Repeat this treatment the next day, if needed.
Be warned: if your scratch your scalp, this mixture is not going to feel very pleasant. DO NOT scratch your scalp for 24 hours prior to this using this mixture.
(Reminds you of your relaxer days, doesn’t it)?
