Exhale, Mr. President
Like many of you, the inauguration moved me deeply. I was holding my breath with you when Barack was taking his oath of office. I think this was the first time I had ever seen Mr. Unflappable … flapped…
But who could blame him? The significance of the mantle laid upon him is no joke.

In 2004, after his speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), I immediately told several friends and family members, “That cute mixed guy with the odd name I can’t seem to recall is going to be president. It’s going to be so cool for my Biracial (Multiracial) son to see someone who looks like him in that position.”
Yes … folks thought I was nuts! … and too idealistic … too warm and fuzzy, soft and fluffy …
… inhale
“America’s not ready for him. He’s too White, too Black, too young, too inexperienced, too … just too … too ….,” they said.
Barack had the audacity to call upon us as Americans to unified across racial, socioeconomic, and partisan lines. He reached out to us whether online, texting, or answering a simple letter that my 7 year old son wrote to him.

In return we reached out to him. My fellow blogger (SingleMomSeeking and her biracial cutie, Mae) helped to raise $75,000 for his campaign. How is that for putting words into action?
We Obama supporters have been waiting a long time to exhale.
Yesterday we did.
