A Nappy Hair Affair in the Rain

Yesterday it rained. My children and I stood outside and played in it. As I looked around, I noticed all the Laxys scurrying for cover! What is a Laxy? ‘Laxy’ is my word for someone with relaxed hair. Is it a derogatory term? Of course not! Instead of enjoying this replenishing gift, the Laxys were panicked about saving the touchup. I smiled. I remember those days all too well! I am so thankful that my daughter (unless she chooses to after my cold dead body is under the ground) will never know the shackles of a relaxer. She will always remain free to enjoy water whether it’s in the form of rain, the pool, or a Slip and Slide. She will learn to love all of the cool stuff water can do to her hair. She will know that frizzy naps are not to be feared
