Nappy hair thinning around the edges?
Alopecia is a common medical term for baldness. Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, typically caused by pulling the hair too tight for extended periods of time. If you wear styles that are heavy and/or pulled tight, or wear hats or other headdresses that may rub the hair around your edges, then stop. Wear styles like an afro, that do not restrain your hair. If you use heat on your hair, stop. Heat will dry your hair and make it more brittle and damaged.
To attempt to encourage your edges to grow, keep your scalp clean and your hair conditioned. You can gently massage Vitamin E or Tea Tree Oil on your scalp. Make sure to be very gentle any time you handle you hair. Remember, it is always a good idea to consult a medical professional for any type of hair loss.
